What is RPG Maker?

RPG Maker is a family of tools for creating games, especially adventures and RPGs. Nelkano can open compatible games made with XP, MV and MZ using their complete game files. Compatibility is still being developed and may vary between games, even when they use the same RPG Maker version.

What you can do today

  • Import complete games from ZIP, RAR or 7z archives.
  • Open compatible RPG Maker XP, MV and MZ games from your library.
  • Use touch controls or an Android-compatible controller.
  • Try your own games exported with these versions.
  • Save and load states in compatible RPG Maker XP games.

Known limitations

  • Some games may fail at startup or during gameplay because of the scripts or plugins they use.
  • The game must include its data files, images, sounds and any other required resources.
  • Nelkano save states have limitations depending on the game, and support differs between XP, MV and MZ.

Getting started with RPG Maker

  1. Prepare the complete game

    You need an RPG Maker XP, MV or MZ game you have permission to use. Keep all its folders and files inside a ZIP, RAR or 7z archive. Adding only the executable or a single data file is not enough.

  2. Add it to Nelkano

    Open the library, tap the + button and select the game archive. Wait for the import to finish.

  3. Open the game

    Select the game in your library. You can use touch controls or an Android-compatible controller. The available buttons and actions depend on the game.

Frequently asked questions about RPG Maker

Which RPG Maker versions can I use?

Nelkano has experimental compatibility with RPG Maker XP, MV and MZ games. A game being made with one of these versions does not guarantee that all its features will work.

Which files should I add?

A ZIP, RAR or 7z archive containing the complete game, including its folders and resources. For MV and MZ, it must also include the index.html file supplied with the game.

Can I save my game from Nelkano?

Compatible RPG Maker XP games support saving and loading states, although saving may be unavailable at certain points. This feature still has limitations in MV and MZ.

Can I try a game I created?

Yes. Export the game with XP, MV or MZ, include all required resources and add the archive to Nelkano.
