What you can do today

  • Load Mega Drive games in .md, .bin and .gen formats.
  • Play with touch controls or an Android-compatible controller.
  • Use the three-button controls: A, B, C and Start.
  • Save and load states to resume your game.
  • Keep the progress of games with a supported save feature.

Known limitations

  • Some games may have graphical or gameplay issues.
  • Music and sound effects may still differ from the original console.

Getting started with Mega Drive

  1. Prepare your game

You need a Mega Drive .md, .bin or .gen file you have permission to use, such as a homebrew game distributed by its author.

  2. Add it to Nelkano

Open the library, tap the + button and select the game file. Once the import is complete, you can open it from the library.

  3. Choose how to play

Use the on-screen D-pad and A, B, C and Start buttons, or connect an Android-compatible controller.
